About Me

Thank you for being here; my name is Karla Perez and I am a bilingual licensed clinical social worker #114365. I bring 6 years of experience in the field of supporting others in their mental health journey. I have been able to practice as a therapist in various school settings (from elementary through university), in an intensive outpatient program, within the justice court system, and - most recently- in a mobile crisis response team. These settings have provided the honor to work with people all throughout their lifespan - children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and older adults.

I also bring the perspective of being la hija mayor de una blended, immigrant family; along with all other professional experience (and the Spanglish too). I extensively understand the imposed pressure to succeed from our elders, the feeling of being an outsider within the group, the difficulty of learning a second language, all while resources are scarce, and growing up a little too fast. These experiences ignited my passion to enter the mental health field and to be able to support other adults, y mi comunidad, as they try to navigate their experiences. The experience that can be struggles with anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, imposter syndrome, and just life in general.

I have gathered effective interventions and tools throughout my clinical training, professional experience, and lived experience. I can guarantee a safe and gentle space where everyone is welcomed as their authentic self. This allows for us to begin the journey, YOUR journey, of strengthening your mental health with the support of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches, diving into psychodynamics to understand yourself better, and plenty of worksheets to keep track of all that is being learned. Oh! And a few (maybe plenty) of bad jokes to get you to where you need to be and closer to having an alma feliz. Please reach out if you’re looking for a therapist to connect with and you’d like a free consultation.

Ojala nos conoscamos pronto!

Con Cariño,

Karla Y. Perez
